Genesis 25:21-26
[21] Isaac prayed to the Lord on behalf of his wife, because she was unable to have children; and the Lord answered him, and his wife Rebekah conceived. [22] But the children struggled together within her; and she said, “If it is so, why am I in this condition?” So she went to inquire of the Lord. [23] And the Lord said to her, “Two nations are in your womb; And two peoples will be separated from your body; And one people will be stronger than the other; And the older will serve the younger.” [24] When her days leading to the delivery were at an end, behold, there were twins in her womb. [25] Now the first came out red, all over like a hairy garment; and they named him Esau. [26] Afterward his brother came out with his hand holding on to Esau’s heel, so he was named Jacob; and Isaac was sixty years old when she gave birth to them.
1 Corinthians 2:11-16
[11] For who among people knows the thoughts of a person except the spirit of the person that is in him? So also the thoughts of God no one knows, except the Spirit of God. [12] Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God. [13] We also speak these things, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words. [14] But a natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. [15] But the one who is spiritual discerns all things, yet he himself is discerned by no one. [16] For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he will instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.
1 Corinthians 3:1-4
[1] And I, brothers and sisters, could not speak to you as spiritual people, but only as fleshly, as to infants in Christ. [2] I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to consume it. But even now you are not yet able, [3] for you are still fleshly. For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking like ordinary people? [4] For when one person says, “I am with Paul,” and another, “I am with Apollos,” are you not ordinary people?
John 3:5-7
[5] Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. [6] That which has been born of the flesh is flesh, and that which has been born of the Spirit is spirit. [7] Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’
Ephesians 2:1
[1] And you were dead in your offenses and sins,
John 5:24-25
[24] “Truly, truly, I say to you, the one who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. Two Resurrections [25] Truly, truly, I say to you, a time is coming and even now has arrived, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.
Galatians 5:17
[17] For the desire of the flesh is against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, in order to keep you from doing whatever you want.
Ephesians 4:22-24
[22] that, in reference to your former way of life, you are to rid yourselves of the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, [23] and that you are to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, [24] and to put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.
Colossians 3:8-10
[8] But now you also, rid yourselves of all of them: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene speech from your mouth. [9] Do not lie to one another, since you stripped off the old self with its evil practices, [10] and have put on the new self, which is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created it—
Galatians 5:24
[24] Now those who belong to Christ Jesus crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
Romans 6:6
[6] knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin;
Romans 6:7-11
[7] for the one who has died is freed from sin. [8] Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, [9] knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death no longer is master over Him. [10] For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all time; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. [11] So you too, consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
Romans 13:14
[14] But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.
Philippians 3:3
[3] for we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and take pride in Christ Jesus, and put no confidence in the flesh,
Galatians 5:16
[16] But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.
Romans 8:1, 4-5
[1] Therefore there is now no condemnation at all for those who are in Christ Jesus...[4] so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. [5] For those who are in accord with the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are in accord with the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
Hebrews 5:11-14
[11] Concerning him we have much to say, and it is difficult to explain, since you have become poor listeners. [12] For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the actual words of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food. [13] For everyone who partakes only of milk is unacquainted with the word of righteousness, for he is an infant. [14] But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to distinguish between good and evil.
1 Corinthians 3:4-9
[4] For when one person says, “I am with Paul,” and another, “I am with Apollos,” are you not ordinary people? [5] What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, even as the Lord gave opportunity to each one. [6] I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth. [7] So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth. [8] Now the one who plants and the one who waters are one; but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor. [9] For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.
1 Corinthians 3:10-12
[10] According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it. But each person must be careful how he builds on it. [11] For no one can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. [12] Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw,
1 Corinthians 3:15-17
[15] If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet only so as through fire. [16] Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? [17] If anyone destroys the temple of God, God will destroy that person; for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are.
